WNBA star Lisa Leslie launches new parent kit and talks about her impending motherhood

WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie helped First 5 California launch their updated Kit for New Parents by handing out kits at the Grove's Kids Club in Los Angeles on Thursday. The kit is a free comprehensive parenting resource that includes everything, from practical advice on prenatal care, to information on a child’s first years. The kit has a retail value of about $75, the Kit for New Parents is free to all new and expecting parents in California. Lisa is going to be a parent herself - she is expecting her first baby in June. Of her impending motherhood, Lisa said:
It is so incredible having a baby, but I wish they were born with their own instruction manual.
Lisa won't be needing an instruction manual herself, given she helped update this new parent kit. It includes information for new parents on nutrition, safety, quality child care, health, discipline and early learning. The new Kit also includes an educational DVD with parenting advice from prominent child development experts and celebrity parents, such as talk show host Cristina Saralegui, Rob Reiner, Phylicia Rashad, Gloria Estefan, Andy Garcia and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Whitney Houston wins custody of Bobbi Kristina

In a court decision yesterday, rulings came down that Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's divorce will be final on April 24th, with Whitney being awarded primary custody of their daughter Bobbi Kristina, 14. During the court proceedings, Whitney tearfully told the judge,
[Bobby's] unreliable. If he says he's going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn't.
Unfortunately, unreliability on Bobby's part seems to be true - in February, Bobby was arrested for failure to pay $11,000 worth of child support for his other children, and spent three nights in jail.

Introducing Liam Aaron McDermott

US Weekly scored the exclusive photos of Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's new baby boy, Liam Aaron, 3 weeks. Tori speaks about becoming a mother, the scary birth and her reconciliation with her mother.

Details of Liam's arrival - he was 15 days early, Tori had to have labor induced after a failure to progress, and eventually a cesarean section was performed. Tori's water broke and the doctor decided to induce labor, which ended up lasting 17 hours. Tori said the contractions were painful but she wanted to experience it;
[It] felt like I was being Tasered. [But] as foolish as this sounds, I wanted to feel how bad it would hurt. But I think I let the pain go on a little bit long before I got the epidural.
Tori explains that when Liam's heartrate dropped, she and Dean were told a cesarean section should be performed. And guess who the doctor was? Dr. Jason Rothbart - the same man that delivered Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.
I asked Dr. Rothbart if he'd do a good job, and he said, 'Well, Angelina didn't complain.' So I was like if Angelina let him do a C-section in Africa, I am ok. I felt comforted by that.
Tori went on to explain the reasons behind her reconciliation with her mother.
I'm so happy she's back in my life. Having a child puts it all in perspective. Knowing the bond I have with Liam means I get my mom's bond with me. Now that we're together, we realize that there is no feud. I'm just sad that I lost a year with my mother. When she walked through the hospital door when I was in labor, it was like I had just seen her yesterday. We both started to cry and hug.
